Dave Aldana is a living legend in the motorcycle world….Probably best known as a top U.S. flat track racer during in the 70’s (he’s featured in the all-time classic movie ON ANY SUNDAY) but he also excelled in road racing, speedway, enduro / motocross…in fact, anything he ever threw his leg over! Dave’s a one of a kind, rebellious kinda guy with a bunch of great stories to tell from competing in the brutal, super competitive A.M.A. Flat Track championships of the 70’s, The epic Transatlantic Trophy match races here in the UK, to his time spent representing both B.S.A. and Norton when “British was Best ” The evening is being Mc’d by respected Eurosport motorcycle commentator Julian Ryder (who is a big Aldana fan..so expect an interesting line in questions.) This is also an opportunity to see the mystical, virtually unknown 1971 flat-track movie THE THRILL IS ON on the big screen. unfinished for over thirty years, this is a lower budget take on On any Sunday, but centering on the endeavors of Dave Aldana and ‘Bad’ Bart Markel…………Amazing racing footage including Kenny Roberts in his rookie year! To conclude the evening, Sideburn are holding an auction of Mr. Aldana memorabilia: vintage leathers, helmets, t-shirts, paddock jackets etc. so make sure you got some money in your pocket. You can also see Dave Aldana in action under the floodlights the following night in The BRITISH FLAT-TRACK GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at Oxford Speedway….Racing starts at 7pm …that’s Friday 6th May……….elbows up!!!
